Interferer

2021

I created 2D concept art for two enemy characters in this students project and animated them in the next step. Interferer is a classic action rogue lite game where the player fights his way through multiple levels with the risk of dying and having to start all over again. The game changes it’s artstyle in three types: Hand-Drawn, Low Poly and Pixel Art.

Key Contributions
  • Concept Art and Animations: The hand-drawn levels feature aesthetics inspired by Asian culture. I designed two enemy characters based on Japanese spiritual themes — one of them a rolling Oni head. After completing the concept art, I also created 2D animations for both characters.

Ghost Character

I created a death animation and a walking animation for this character.

Each frame was hand-drawn to match the art style of the level.


Oni Head Character

I created a death animation and a walking animation for this character. To give the animation a funny touch, I made the head squish a little bit every time it hits the ground.
